After reading this ^ article, I realized that some of the most crucial things for a child’s mental development happen at home. And furthermore teachers are at least partially responsible for making the right things happen at home so that their students progress normally. So, as a teacher, I would need to get parents involved in their childrens’ academic lives and have them doing things with them at home. My mentor gave me the idea of sending articles like this home with them in a folder (I used to have a Monday folder in elementary school) or even sending home sheets of activities for them to do, because it’s important that they exercise their brain more than just in class and with others that care about them.
